Privacy policy
Last updated: Draft — not yet in effect
This policy explains what information EventRibbon handles and where it goes. EventRibbon is designed so that your seating plan stays in your own browser.
No accounts
EventRibbon does not currently offer accounts or sign-in. We don’t ask for your name or email to use the planner.
What’s stored in your browser
The planner saves your work in your web browser’s own storage on your device, not on EventRibbon servers. This includes:
- your events and their details (name, date, venue);
- guest names, groups or households, and meal choices you enter or import;
- tables, seating and seating rules;
- vendor details you add, and any vendor PDF documents you upload (stored in your browser only);
- print preferences, and the record of an Event Pass you purchased.
EventRibbon does not currently store your events in the cloud. Clearing your browser’s data, or using a different browser or device, means that information isn’t available there. You can download a backup file at any time. Backups don’t include vendor PDFs or Event Pass payment details.
AI guest-list clean-up (optional)
When you use AI guest-list clean-up, the text you submit is sent to EventRibbon’s server and processed by Anthropic’s API on EventRibbon’s behalf, to organize it into names, groups and meals. The result is returned to your browser for you to review before anything is added to your plan. Anthropic’s commercial terms state that it may not train models on customer content from its API services; see also Anthropic’s privacy information. EventRibbon does not intentionally store the submitted guest-list text or the AI result in its application storage. EventRibbon’s server logs for this feature record operational information, such as how much text was processed, not the guest list itself.
AI clean-up runs only when you choose it. Other ways of adding guests — typing them in, pasting a tidy list or importing a CSV file — are processed in your browser and are not uploaded.
Payments (Event Pass)
Event Pass payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe’s checkout page. EventRibbon doesn’t receive or store your card details. To confirm a payment, EventRibbon’s server checks the payment with Stripe using a payment reference and the event’s ID; that reference is saved in your browser so the pass keeps working there.
Hosting and technical information
EventRibbon’s hosting and infrastructure provider (Vercel) may process ordinary technical information when you visit — such as your IP address, browser and device information, details of the pages and features requested, diagnostics and logs — to deliver, operate and secure the service. EventRibbon’s server also uses your IP address briefly, in memory, to limit excessive use of the AI clean-up and payment features; it isn’t saved by EventRibbon for this purpose. EventRibbon does not use analytics or advertising trackers.
